Beis Yosef
|
|
Ksav Beis Yosef is the writing style of the great Rav Yosef Karo, the author of the Shulchan Aruch. It is a popular font among Yeshivish Ashenazi Jews.
Ksav Beis Yosef forms a Ches by joining 2 Zayins with a hat, and also note the left top of the Shin where the top "box" protrudes on both sides of the arm, like the letter Zayin. Like all Ashkenazi writing, the shin is made up of 3 arms coming to a common bottom point, with no horizontal aspect to the bottom joining.

Ksav Ari Zal forms a Ches by joining a Zayin a Vuv with a hat, and also note the left top of the Shin where the top "box" protrudes on the left side only of the arm, like the letter Vuv. Like all Ashkenazi writing, the shin is made up of 3 arms coming to a common bottom point, with no horizontal aspect to the bottom joining.

Sepharadi / Vellish - Eidut HaMizrach
This Vellish writing is the writing style unique to many Jews of Sepharadic Jews. It is a popular font among many Jews of Separadic origin.
The main point where you can identify this writing style is in the bottom of the letter Shin. The three arms come together with either a fourth horizontal line, or a slanty line, or the right arm is curved in a way to be both an arm and a base. This does have a horizontal aspect to it..
